In the Silence…

by on June 19, 2011

We discussed this morning the significance of the fact that God is never silent in our lives, and what the implications are if we actually feel that He is silent.

Also, important is the way in which God is speaking. The definitive verse we quoted was Hebrews 1:1-2

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created gthe world.

Here is John Piper speaking on the morning that he heard the voice of God:

The Morning I Heard The Voice Of God

Also, as we discussed. In we do feel the silence in our lives, our only hope as Christians is Christ’s blood and his righteousness…

My Hope is Built (The Solid Rock) by Edward Mote, 1834

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
